Does MediaTek support OMA SyncML DS over OBEX ? |
A.: |
Since the year 2009, MediaTek (MTK) offers a SyncML-Client. Since 2007, MediaTek offers SIM-Access (SAP), however, phones sold in Europe ship without SAP.

Q.: |
How to start OMA DS over OBEX with MediaTek ? |
A.: |
Connect to OMA DS and send the alert as WBXML. OMA DS 1.2 does not work for me. On this platform, OMA DS is intended for phone-to-phone data sync only. Within the SyncML packages, the source tag has to start with IMEI:. There is an option to start the sync from the phone, for this your SyncML-Server needs a class of device in mobile-phone range. Furthermore my phone is limited to contacts and does not allow the exchange of the calendar or tasks with OMA DS, although devinf11 suggest this. For these data sources, you are forced to use MediaTek’s extended AT commands.

Q.: |
Who is MediaTek ? |
A.: |
MediaTek builds the platform MAUI for many China based mobile phones. Although they used own platforms in the past, Alcatel Mobile Phones, Huawei, and Motorola use it for (some of) their non-3G feature-phones, as well. Compared to Nokia Series 40 or Sony Ericsson A300, MAUI is richer on features in some parts. Manufacturers modify visual appearance of the menu to match the corporate identity and you cannot conclude from the menu whether it is a MediaTek. If you connect to the Bluetooth profile Dial-Up Networking (DUN), issue the AT command AT+CGMI then MTK1 is returned. Or you send AT+CSCS=? and its result includes UCS2_0X81. Alternatively, check Bluetooth Qualification, enter the name of your model, hit Search, click on the QDL, display the PICS details, click on the combined QD-ID, and, there, have a look at its product description: MediaTek. |
