Q.: |
Does Siemens support OMA SyncML DS over OBEX ? |
A.: |
The UMTS platform based on Qualcomm’s BREW software platform (SXG75, EF81, CL75, …) supports OMA DS 1.1. The normal 75 platform (S75, SL75, S68, …) – a evolution of the software platform 65 – supports OMA DS 1.2 beside the already supported ETSI AT commands, extended AT commands and IrMC. Within both platforms, SyncML is advertised neither in USB (device even does not follow USB CDC) nor in IrDA. On all transports (USB, IrDA IrCOMM or Bluetooth DUN) you can start the OBEX server with AT^SQWE=3.

Q.: |
How to start OMA DS over OBEX with a Siemens BREW ? |
A.: |
SyncML is not advertised in Bluetooth. OBEX Push (device even does not advertise OBEX File Transfer) gains no access to SyncML. You have to use the AT command and SyncML 1.1 (WBXML) is ready with these limitations:
a) Source database paths are fixed: XML, WBXML.
b) OBEX PUT/GET must be done in one packet.
The OBEX layer lacks continue / segmentation support and is not the same as used in OBEX Push or Siemens OBEX File Transfer (UUID: 6B01CB31-4106-11d4-9A77-0050DA3F471F). Segmentation of one SyncML package is done on the SyncML layer (maximums: 2 KByte per SyncML message; 6.5 KByte per OBEX packet).

Q.: |
How to start OMA DS over OBEX with a Siemens 75 ? |
A.: |
SyncML is advertised in Bluetooth. Because only SyncML 1.2 (WBXML) is supported, you have to send a SAN package. Furthermore, as with the BREW platform, OBEX PUT/GET must be done in one packet. Stability warning: Siemens Mobile Phone Manager SmartSync uses IrMC with this platform! |
